Now United Kings representative Oscar Charliee has also gathered together a large group of up-and-coming emcees and let them loose over yet more underground US tracks that were downloaded from the Internet and chopped and cut to create something new. ‘Spud Back Vol 1: For The Journey’ is a whopping twenty-two tracks long, clocking in at sixty minutes of music with a large percentage of the featured emcees being London-based. The first recognisable beat on the project features on ‘Sacrifice’ by J-Dot. Here the DJ Premier beat for Bumpy Knuckles ‘Part Of My Life’ is used, whilst J-Dot kicks two verses about his dedication to Hip-Hop culture. Another dope Premo beat is chopped up with J-Dot and Oscar Charliee flowing over a Royce Da 5’9 classic on ‘Boom Innayahead’, whilst Jagwah and Sacred utilise a much loved Alchemist beat on ‘Worst 2 Best’. Tracks about the opposite sex always feature heavily on these types of projects and this is no exception with Rikki Akart’s ‘Timed 2’ and Jagwah’s ‘Dis Gal’ addressing the issue. |
